The reason could be any, wrong packaging, irresponsible loading and unloading and then placing. This is a major loss to the owners of the furniture. Hence it is advisable that when one plans to relocate one should be very careful about packaging of furniture too. We either wrap the furniture with blankets or bubble wrap. Secure padding is done for furniture. Direct use of tape is incorrect on wood or painted surfaces.
Remove legs from furniture if possible. Place wing nuts or screws in envelopes or plastic bags and tape to underside of furniture.
